A Really Bad Day!

I LOVE being a mother--
It was what I wanted to be when I "GREW" up.
I always wanted to have a big family.
So I guess you could say that I'm living my dream! haha

But today, it was a bad one!
It started off early--getting kids breakfast and ready for school,
house hold chores and babies playing in the toilet--
They were in my bathroom, I'm missing some make-up brushes
and who knows what else-- They were so proud of themselves
when they both said in unison "Flush it mommy, flush it"!!
Not only were brushes missing, they were WET from
head to toe!! SO Right in the bath they went!

Later it was several poopie diapers,
which really, can't you do that before the bath???

Then once again they escaped over the gate!!!
They were outside playing the in the dirt
getting it in each others hair--
Again, in the bath they went!

Then I had to pick up Steven and Luke from school.
Do homework with Cody, and begin dinner, and then
get to the last soccer game of the season.

Well I preheated the oven, I was going to make roasted shrimp,
with a pesto pasta and some veggies, it was going to be good.
As the timer rang to alert me that the oven was hot I opened the oven
and FLAMES burst out of the oven--
The babies had put toys in the oven without me knowing!!!
I know seems like a funny thing to go and grab my camera,
but this day had just gotten worse and I had to capture it!

I really didn't know what to do?
Do I just let the toys burn in the oven?
Do I move them to the sink?
Do I throw baking powder on everything?
Well, I decided to throw baking powder on the fire,
and then move the rack to the sink.
Which was a BIG mistake on my part.
The hot melting plastic caught fire again and the
heat began to melt things that were in my sink!!
Here are a few of the melted cups!!
The pesto sauce and pasta that I was making burned
during the whole fire fiasco--
I then had to clean up what I could,
and get 3 boys ready for soccer and
all of us out the door.
For dinner we had a package of Oreo's.
It was great and the kids were happy.
Kyle and Jack are lucky to be alive!!! haha

Being a mother has it's moments!
Thank goodness we were blessed with laughter!
Cause today all I could do was laugh!

Honestly, I am laughing!! I shouldn't be because I have two of my own at home that could bring on the same kind of day!:) I love your attitude about life. You are such a great mom. :)

Oh my!! They always say that you'll look back on those days and laugh, but what a great example to show that you can laugh even when it's happening :) love you!!!

Steph, that is too funny. I am so glad you took pictures. I always do when something crazy happens. Once my daughter colored her entire body with markers & we have a keepsake. It is Murphys Law that once the day starts out crazy, it only gets worse LOL Nothing could be more labor intensive than raising kids & you have 5!

Stephanie, I'm so sorry about your bad day, but it sure made MINE better. I was holding my breath and gasping while reading your post. The only relief I had was when you finished the post after all the pictures and I finally GASPED and sucked in the breath I was missing! Then I let it all out all Asthma-y sounding and started to laugh! How did you get it from RUINING the oven? I wouldn't even know where to start!!! Steph, I love you. :)

You're a better mom than I am if you laughed at all this!!! You must've taken lessons from President Hinckley's wife (I remember a talk where she said that you can laugh or cry & she'd pick laugh). I'd pick screaming & yelling & crying! I need to learn to laugh more at things like that! I've said before I don't know how you do it w/ 5 young boys & I really don't! I need to take lessons from you b/c I have all I can handle w/ 2 girls sometimes!
