I was visiting with a friend the other day and she
told me about a new discipline method she had started
called "The Uh-Oh Jar"
Well, since then--we're doing to too!
Our jar--
there are about 50 folded papers inside
one each on is a job they need to do if:
they misbehave
they're not listening
they hit one another
etc....
the jobs range from
-write a "Thank You" note
-20 jumping jacks
-sweep the deck
-workbook pages for 20 minutes
-run up and down the stairs 10 times
-20 minutes of coloring
-clean the bathroom floor
-pull weeds for 20 minutes
The choices are endless!!!
Once they receive an Uh-Oh and they complain I say:
"Uh-Oh you need to pick another one"
and if they complain about having to pick 2 I say:
"Uh-Oh you have to pick another one".
One day Luke had 13, yes 13 to pick!!!
This has really helped!!
My house is getting clean
they are getting exercise
and it helps me not to get upset or mad at them.
Here's Jack doing his workbook for 20 minutes
Here's Kyle cleaning the bathroom floor!
And since he complained he also had to sweep the deck!
It's woking for us!
Maybe it will work for you too!!!
